CALCE Electronic Products and Systems Center, University of Maryland
CALCE EPSC is recognized as a founder and driving force behind the development and implementation of physics-of-failure (PoF) approaches to reliability and life cycle prediction, as well as a world leader in accelerated testing, and electronic parts selection and management. The CALCE EPSC is at the forefront of international standards development for critical electronic systems having chaired the development of several reliability and part selection standards. The CALCE EPSC is staffed by over 100 faculty, staff and students, and in 1999 became the first academic research facility in the world to be ISO 9001 certified. Collectively, CALCE researchers have authored over 25 internationally acclaimed textbooks and well over 250 research publications relevant to electronics reliability. Over the last 15 years, The Computer Aided Life Cycle Engineering (CALCE) Electronic Products and Systems Center has invested over $50 million in developing methodologies, models, and tools that address the design, manufacture, analysis, and management of electronic systems.

Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Technology for Successful Aging
The Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Technology for Successful Aging (RERC-Tech-Aging), a University of Florida (UF) initiative, was established in October, 2001. The primary focus of the Center is to promote independence and quality of life for older people with disabilities through technology - devices that can make everyday tasks easier to complete. This RERC-Tech-Aging, funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), builds on the work of Mann and colleagues, who in 1991 established and conducted work as the NIDRR funded RERC-Aging at the University at Buffalo (State University of New York at Buffalo). The core focus of the RERC-Tech-Aging is research and development on communications, home monitoring, and "smart" technology for older persons. To meet this challenge, it has brought together the expertise of several major research universities, corporate partners and professional and consumer organizations. The center is also identifying the needs and barriers to home monitoring and communication technology for elders. The website details projects and events associated with the Center, as well as provides a variety of links and downloadable materials.
