  • Deep Space Network Radio Astronomy

  • Radio astronomy studies planets, stars, galaxies, and other astronomical objects using radio waves they emit. Because radio waves are much longer than light waves, radio astronomy requires large antennas, such as those used by the DSN to communicate with spacecraft exploring the solar system.

  • Produces and distributes a Small Radio Telescope (SRT) kit designed by Haystack Observatory as part of their educational outreach program. The standard kit consists of a 7.5 foot dish with two axis computer controlled mount, a controller, and a digital receiver which operates in near the 21 cm line of Hydrogen.

  • Astronomical observatory, University of Ljubljana

  • Observatory is located on the hill Golovec close to Ljubljana. Observations requiring dark skies are obtained at the Crni vrh observing station where two small automated telescopes equipped with state of the art systems for CCD photometry are located. Astronomers run university courses of astronomy for astronomers as well as physicists and primary and secondary school teachers. The Observatory has a public astronomical library. Research is in large part done in collaboration with the Astronomical Observatory of Padua. We have been recently observing at Asiago, Cananea, ESO, San Pedro Martir & TNG. Reseach interests include general relativity, active galactic nuclei, close stellar binary systems, stellar spectroscopy, pulsars, and telescope automation. We are currently involved in planning of the spectroscope for the European Space Agency mission GAIA. We are also partners in the European spectroscopic stellar survey RAVE (RAdial VElocities) which uses the UK Schmidt telescope in Australia.

  • Instituto Nacional de Astrofisica Optica y Electronica (INAOE) is one of the premier institutes of Mexico, where research is carried out in areas of Astrophysics, Optics, Electronics and Computer Science. The institute also has an active post-graduate program leading to Master's and Doctorate degrees in the above areas. The institute was founded by Guillermo Haro, the co-discoverer of Herbig-Haro objects, way back in 1971.
