Research Institute of Organic Agriculture
The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture FiBL, Frick (Switzerland) and FiBL Germany are leading competence centres for research and consultancy on organic agriculture in Europe. FiBL has long been committed to the international development of organic agriculture (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements IFOAM, International Organic Accreditation Service IOAS, International Society of Organic Agriculture Research ISOFAR etc.). FiBL has competencies in organic soil management, plant production, holistic animal health, animal ethology and organic animal breeding, in socioeconomics, in comprehensive analysis of the organic market and in organic food processing and production. Alongside practical research, high priority is given to transferring knowledge into agricultural practice through advisory work, training courses and expert reports as well as various modern methods of documentation (magazines, data sheets, reference books and Internet).

applied agricultural R&D
Northern R&D is a Division in the Galilee Technology Center (MIGAL) based in the Northern part of ISRAEL (Galilee) dealing with regional agriculture research and development. It covers regional applied research needs in 10 different desiplins. The R&D is carried out in ten research stations spread all over the area reflecting different climatic conditions ranging from an altitude of –200m Below Sea Level upto 1000m. The different climatic areas means various agricultural activity whose responsibilty is of different work group within the Northern R&D. Not only that the areas of activity of Northern R & D are characterized by extreme differences of topography and climate, it alsoi include a wide variety of different forms of settlement and bussiness models. The scientif agenda of Northern R&D reflects a “Bottom UP” approach whereby the farmers participat regularly in setting up objective for the overall activity. The following objectives reflects the area’s needs for the year 2003.

USGS National Wetlands Research Center
The National Wetlands Research Center had its beginnings in the National Coastal Ecosystems Team, founded in 1975 as part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's (USFWS's) Office of Biological Services. The Team was originally headquartered at Stennis, Mississippi (near Bay St. Louis), on the National Aeronautic and Space Administration's rocket-testing site. The mission of the Team was to bridge the gap between researchers and decision makers by gathering, synthesizing, and disseminating information, mostly by using geographic information systems and producing reports such as Coastal Characterizations, Community and Estuarine Profiles, and Species Profiles.
